Review 1: Holiday Inn - 10/1/08
Construction in hotel--of course!! Housekeeping doesn't understand meaning of "do not disturb" sign. Like all other downtowns (IE dirty, crime-ridden, boarded-up storefronts), it's not an ideal enviroment for a single gal to walk around so you're limited to the overpriced hotel food options. When the construction is over and if they open for lunch.
Review 2: Holiday Inn/Stamford Area - 11/25/08
Nicely renovated hotel. Good discount on the food, (buffet breakfast about $7.50), and the van will shuttle to nearby attractions and downtown restaurants. For those wishing to go to Manhattan, hotel van will take you to Stamford train station (about 1 mile). Purchase a round trip on the Metro North railroad to Grand Central Station. trains run about every half hour. Take the express (not local) train for the fastest trip time (45 minutes). This is the least crowded, no stops at Harlem and the Bronx, and is also best if coming back during the rush hour. You will need a peak travel fare for this time, about $21 round trip. On arrival at Grand central, walk up 42nd street until reaching Broadway, and you are right there at all the shops and attractions of Times square.
